History in the Making

I did it. My duty is done - for now, anyways. Yesterday, I went out and early voted for the candidate I think will whip this country back into shape. Who do I think that candidate is? Wouldn't you like to know! Texans get to do what's called the "Texas Two-step" which just means we get to vote twice (the primary and the caucus). I'll be back on March 4th to vote in the caucus. It feels good...exercising my right to vote. I'm not one of those who doesn't vote because "my vote don't count anyway". Please. It is my honor - my duty - to go out and vote. It is my right...the right that so many people risked their lives - and some even died - for me to have. Nuh uh. Their fighting will not be in vain.

This is an exciting (and historical) time to vote, or am I the only one who believes this? I mean, we've had African Americans and women go for the presidency before, but Clinton and Obama have gotten closer than the ones before them. This is the closest this country has gotten to having its first female or black president. Whether you like the candidates or not, you've got to admit this is history in the making (and perfect background for a book - hmm...). Come November, the Democratic candidate will either be a woman or African American - and they both have a very good chance at becoming our 44th president. When my future kids read about this in their history books, I could tell them I voted in that historical election. I could add this to my "I was there when" stories to tell my grandchildren (even great grandchildren). Come on, you gotta admit that's cool.

YAY!

This is the first post on my new blog! Isn't the design awesome? I have Zoe from Chic and Sassy design to thank for that. You rock, girl! Anyway, I'm not posting anything of relevance right now; I'm just excited about the look. I'll be posting about any and everything that comes to mind...just like the title says: Life, Love and the Pursuit of Publication. Oh, yeah. I'm an aspiring children/teen author. This is so cool!
