Tickle Me Tuesday

Gentle Thoughts for Today -

Birds of a feather flock together . . . .and then shit on your car.

A penny saved is a government oversight.

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.

The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.

He who hesitates is probably right.

Did you ever notice: The Roman Numerals for forty (40) are XL.

If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.

The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he can tell when he's really in trouble..

Did you ever notice: When you put the 2 words 'The' and 'IRS' together it spells 'Theirs...'

Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to your youth, think of Algebra.

You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young. Ah, being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

Lord, Keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth . . .. . . . AMEN!

Man-ificent Monday: Taylor Lautner & Kellan Lutz

In honor of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse release, I'm posting pics of two of the Twilight cutie pies. Now, I know alot of y'all are on Team Edward, but Robert Pattinson isn't all that to me. I know, shocking, right? These are my Twilight hotties: Taylor Lautner aka Jacob Black (He's finally 18, so I don't feel...weird posting this, lol) and Kellan Lutz aka Emmett Cullen. YUM-MY!

Word(s) to Describe: WOW!

Tickle Me Tuesday

A woman stopped by, unannounced, at her son's house. She knocked on the door then immediately walked in. She was shocked to see her daughter-in-law lying on the couch, totally naked. Soft music was playing, and the aroma of perfume filled the room.

"What are you doing?!" she asked.

"I'm waiting for Mike to come home from work," the daughter-in-law answered.

"But you're naked!" the mother-in-law exclaimed.

"This is my love dress," the daughter-in-law explained.

"Love dress? But you're naked!"

"Mike loves me and wants me to wear this dress," she explained." It excites him to no end. Every time he sees me in this dress, he instantly becomes romantic and ravages me for hours on end. He can't get enough of me"

The mother-in-law left. When she got home, she undressed, showered, put on her best perfume, dimmed the lights, put on a romantic CD, and laid on the couch, waiting for her husband to arrive. Finally, her husband came home. He walked in and saw her laying there so provocatively.
"What are you doing?" he asked.

"This is my love dress," she whispered sensually.

"Needs ironing," he said. "What's for dinner?

He never heard the gunshot.

Man-ificent Monday: Cutie Pie Daddies

In honor of Father's Day, I'm posting pics of cutie pie fathers. I chose not to post pics of the usual hot dads (Will Smith, Brad Pitt, David Beckham, etc). Instead, I wanted to post pics of underrated cuties: Boris Kodjoe, Bruce Willis, Robin Thicke, and Blair Underwood.

Word(s) to Describe: Hot!

And the cutest daddy of all: Walter Weakly (seen in this pic w/me & my mom)

Wannabe Writers #21

Wannabe Writers is a writing group for the un-published started by Sarah at Confessions of the Un-published. It's a place where future authors can ask questions, share stories, and get feedback. Interested in joining? Click here to find more about how it works.

Where I am in the writing process: Same place as last week. Nothing new has happened yet, but I'm waiting patiently.

My current problems: This past week, I've been busy! I started work at my church's summer camp AND we had Adventure Week (another name for Vacation Bible School). This means I was at church from 9:30 am to bout 9:30 pm or longer. I had no energy for anything! Needless to say, I'm a little behind on my writing.

This week's question: Do you carry a writing journal around? Do you believe jotting down the ideas as they come is the best way? I mean if I don't get it all out now will it be lost forever?

My answer: I definitely carry a notebook around. I may not lose the idea forever, but I may forget important details. Actually, since I take my Blackberry with me everywhere I go, I use that. Plus, it's easier and faster to type when it's the middle of the night and I don't feel like getting up to get a pen. Sometimes, ideas hit me in the weirdest places. When they come, I definitely need to be ready!

Random Thoughts Thursday

NBA Finals. Tonight is the night. Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals. I knew it would go to a game 7. Not to sound jaded or anything, but it's all about the money here in the U.S. Either teams winning too early wouldn't have garnered alot of money...especially if it were a sweep. Now, the finals going to a game 7? That's guaranteed money, especially since it's between the Lakers and the Celtics. People are going to watch, no doubt about it.

So, with that being said. Game 7. Tonight. Lakers vs Celtics. Who do I want to win? The Celtics. Not that I'm this huge Celtics fan. I like them, but I'm a hometown team kind of girl, so it's about the Rockets (can we go back to the glory days of the mid '90s when our team was HOT). I'm not a Laker fan. I think it's more because I'm not big on Kobe. I know, shocking, right? Finally someone who doesn't live for everything Kobe. Don't get me wrong. Kobe's got skills. Some of his moves are just like...wow. I can't take that away from him. The man's good. I just don't particularly care for him. I won't be cheering him on, which means, I won't be cheering the Lakers on, which means, GO CELTICS!

By the way, in my eyes and heart, Michael Jordan will always be the best. The way Jordan played...pure art in motion. Kobe's good, but he's no Jordan, at least not to me, a Michael Jordan fan for life.

Saw this a few years ago! Funny! If you get a chance, check out them out on youtube (moymoypalaboy).

Man-ificent Monday: Mario Lopez

OMG, I loved Saved By The Bell, mostly cos I got to look at this eye candy every week. Who am I talking about? MARIO LOPEZ!!!! I heart Slater. Mario heated up the stage in season 3 of Dancing With the Stars, where he was runner-up to Emmitt Smith. Now, you can see him as a host on MTV's America's Best Dance Crew and as a celebrity guest host on Extra. The thing I notice most about Mario, besides his gorgeous body, is his DIMPLES! I love his dimples.

Word(s) to Describe: Muy caliente! Sexy! Gorgeous! Yummy! The list goes on...

Where I am in the writing process: Still revamping both novels #1 and novels #2.

My current problems: Hmm...not so sure right now. I did have a problem with getting started again, but I've started. It's a slow start, but at least it's a start.

This week's question: This week's question comes from Swimmer at Books, Writing, and More, Oh My! . She asked about writer jealousy. Anybody else currently experiencing it? How do you deal with it?

My Answer: I used to experience it...wondering what they have that I don't. I know I'm a good writer. Now, not so much. I realize what they have is the guts to keep going, even when they've been rejected a number of times. I do write for the love of it, but I also would LOVE to become a published author. I know my time will come. I just have to be patient and have the guts to keep going. Every time I hear about a sale or about someone landing an agent, it only shows me that it's possible. Until God tells me it's not meant for me to become published - and I don't think that'll be the case - I'll keep trying. When I hold my baby in my hands for the first time, I know it will be oh so worth it!

What about you? What's up in your writing world?

Tickle-Me Tuesday

TOO CUTE!!!

Man-ificent Monday: Columbus Short

This week's cutie pie is 27 year old actor and choreographer, Columbus Short. A fact I didn't know: he choreographed one of Britney Spear's tours (the Onyx Hotel Tour, for Britney fans). Columbus Short is known for his role as DJ in Stomp the Yard. He's also had roles in This Christmas, Cadillac Records, and Death at a Funeral. Columbus will reprise his role as DJ in Stomp the Yard 2. What do I first notice about Mr. Short? His beautiful smile and kissable lips. I'm a sucker for guys with gorgeous smiles and full lips!

Word(s) to describe: Enticing; Charming; Yum!

Where I am in the writing process: I'm in the middle of revamping novel #2. I'm excited about summer vacation cos that's when I tend to get a lot of writing done. Prayerfully, I'll be done with novel #2 - tentatively called, Who's Got the Moves - by the time summer ends.

My current problems: Hmm...I'd say getting to it. This always happens. It's summer vacation and my body wants to chill while my mind keeps working. I'm not too worried cos, I always end up getting to work. It's just getting over that hump.

My question this week: Critique partners? Anyone have a story on where they found a good one? And ways to keep the relationship going?

My answer: I belong to an online critique group, which I do enjoy. I've just found a critique partner through the Kidlit Blog, so I'm trying that out. What I'd really love is a partner I can meet face-to-face from time to time, you know? What about you?

Inspirational Sunday

"Now, begin the work and the Lord be with you."
1 Chronicles 22:16

Rae's Thought: I wonder what went through Moses' mind when God called him to lead the Israelites? Maybe he thought things like, There's been a mistake, or Who me? You've got to be kidding. Whether his thoughts were, Moses's words and actions prove that he questioned whether or not God had made the right choice. According to the Bible, Moses asked god, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt" (Exodus 3:11).

Truthfully, that's where I'm at right now. Surely, you don't mean me, Lord? Why me? I'm too shy. I don't have enough experience. It's too far out of my comfort zone. I've come up with excuse after excuse for why I'm not the right person. After I'd come up with excuse after excuse, God told me two important things:

  • If He's called me, He has already equipped me to do it. "He handed out gifts above and below, filled heaven with his gifts, filled earth with his gifts. He handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor-teacher to train Christ's followers in skilled servant work, working within Christ's body, the church..." (Ephesians 4:11-13)

  • He will not leave me alone. He'll be with me the whole way. "I'll be whatever you need Me to be as you carry out my assignment...if you are afraid, I'll be your strength" (Henry T. Blackaby and Richard Blackaby, Experiencing God Day by Day).

Do you feel like God is calling you to do something you feel is impossible? Do you feel like there's been a mistake? May the words above give you the same comfort it has given me: (a) If God has given you a mission, know that He's already equipped you to complete it and (b) He will definitely not leave you alone. You may not feel that you're ready, but God does, and really, which one knows best? "God provides what we need. Now, we need to get busy" (Beth Moore).

Writing Wednesday: Sharing the Spotlight

Have you ever had a story that just wasn't gellin with you? My first WW story was ok, but it wasn't gellin with me as much as I'd have liked it to be. So, I've changed it a bit...ok, maybe more than a bit. Some of the characters are still the same, but some are gone (yeah, I had to get rid of those babies) and some are added. This story is just right. This post will only introduce the story and characters, then on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday, the story will unfold. And I still suck at titles and synopses, but I'm working on it. Without further ado...

Title: Sharing the Spotlight

Synopsis: Niki and Ren are complete opposites. While Niki is tall and model-thin; Ren is short and curvy. Niki lives for fashion; Ren is all about jeans and tees. Niki thrives on being the center of attention; Ren prefers fading into the background. Despite the differences, the sisters remain close...that is, until they end up sharing the spotlight.

Characters: Using pics of people who resemble my characters...

Nikole "Niki" Blake: 18

Tierney "Ren" Blake: 16

Arianna "Ari" Gibson: 16; Ren's bff

Eva Cates: 18; Niki's bff

Marcelles Wade: 18; Niki's other bff

Trey Taylor: 16; Ren's boyfriend

Sam Fisher: 19; Niki's boyfriend

Ryan Blake: 13

Tickle-Me Tuesday

So, a month ago my parents welcomed 4 new niños to the family. My new foster bro and sisters are just too precious (ages 4, 5, 6, and 9). The 4 year-old little girl reminds me of a southern belle. I call her "Princess" cos that's exactly how she acts. Here are a few of her sayings that I like to call, "Princess-isms." By the way, she has a lisp, which makes it even cuter!

  • One time, she walked into the bathroom, only to run back out screaming, "Ahhh! I can't go to that bafroom! There's a bug-squito in there!" Guess it's part bug and part mosquito?

  • One Sunday, she hadn't changed her dress after church yet, so she carefully drank her juice. Why? "I don't wanna spill this on my dress cos it'll get roont!" I'm assuming she means, 'ruined'.

  • My dad has this game he plays with her where he tells her that her nose is broke cos it has 2 holes in it. Every time, she hollers out, "Uh, uh! It's not brote, Daddy!"

And the ultimate...

  • Here's her version of Jingle Bells:"Jinger bells, jinger bells. Jinga all da way. Old McDonald is to ride a one plus say say say. Hey!"

I know. Cute, right??
